TRANSLATION OF EVIDENCE AND APPLICATION

  • Review the readings in the White, Dudley-Brown, and Terhaar text. With your current health care organization (psychiatric behavioral hospital), or an organization you are targeting for your DNP Project, in mind, consider the area(s) of greatest challenge with regard to translating and applying evidence for a practice change initiative, e.g., leadership, technology, collaboration, stakeholder buy-in. Focus on the relevant text chapter(s) in your Discussion preparation.
  • Consider theories and best practice recommendations for addressing your identified challenges and barriers to translating and applying evidence that would support practice change initiatives.
  • Reflect on the philosophy of nursing practice that you developed. Consider your role as a DNP in creating an organizational culture that embraces evidence-based practice and quality improvement.

With these thoughts in mind …

Post an explanation of the challenges and barriers to translating and applying evidence for practice change in your target health care organization (Behavioral health hospital). Briefly explain your issue(s) of concern and describe specific approaches for addressing these challenges. Explain how you view your role as a DNP in creating a health care culture that promotes translation of evidence for quality improvement and explain why. Then, recommend actions and activities you could model and lead, including through an EBP QI project, to advocate for quality improvement and social change in nursing. Be specific and provide examples and at least 3 references.

Week 7: Intervention for Proposed Clinical Change Project

You are designing an executable population-based change project addressing identified
practice-related problems or questions. This strongly emphasizes collaboration between
advanced practice nurses and community agencies and include working with an agency
using practice data to provide answers, which are responsive to the needs of clinicians,
administrators, and policy makers for improvement of programs or practices.

This section of the change project should include a discussion of key concepts.

1. Clarify the issue under study.
2. Propose solutions or interventions based on the literature
3. Compare other views on the problem and solutions.
4. Address the APRN role in the intervention and discuss implications for clinical

practice.
5. Discuss the implications of your change project.
6. Some important things to consider and address:
7. Does your intervention have a clear connection to your research problem?
8. What are the specific methods of data collection you are going to use, such as

surveys, interviews, questionnaires, or protocols?
9. How do you intend to analyze your results?
10. Provide a justification for subject selection and sampling procedure.
11. Describe potential limitations. Are there any practical limitations that could affect

your data collection? How will you attempt to control the limitations?
12. How will your change project help fill gaps in understanding the research

problem?
13. This section should be 6–7 pages in length, not including the cover or reference

page. You must reference a minimum of 5 scholarly articles.

14. Use the current APA format to style your paper and to cite your sources. Review

the rubric for more information on how the assignment will be graded.

Nursing week 5 abstract assignment

Week 5 Abstract, Significance, and Summary

This week, you will submit the final portions of your paper for review. Please make sure to review all of your instructor's feedback and prepare your research for final submission in week 7.

Abstract

The abstract is generally used as a searchable, comprehensive overview of your research. When online databases search research, they pull keywords from the abstract. Compose the abstract for your research project. Your abstract should be one page in length, and include the following:

· Describe the research problem and why it is important.

· Identify the purpose of the study.

· State the theoretical foundations and/or conceptual frameworks, as appropriate.

· Summarize the key research question(s).

· Describe, concisely, the overall research design, methods, and data analysis procedures.

· Conclude with a statement on the implications for positive social or institutional change.

Your abstract must be a clear and concise overview of your research that would be easily searchable if you were to publish in a journal.

Significance and Summary

In 3–4 pages, summarize your study. Provide a summation of evidence (referencing your literature) that the problem is current, relevant, and significant to the discipline. Reiterate the gap in the literature and how your project contributes to social or organizational change in nursing and nursing education.

Within your summary, state the significance of your research by identifying potential contributions of the study that advance knowledge in the discipline. This is an elaboration of what the problem addresses. Provide a strong “take home” message that captures the key essence of your research.

Lastly, describe recommendations for further research that are grounded in the strengths and limitations of the current research as well as the literature you reviewed. Ensure recommendations do not exceed the research boundaries.

Review the rubric for grading criteria.

Meets Expectations

The significance and summary section includes an overall summary of the project’s main points the significance of the project to the nursing education profession, and recommendations for future research. The summation is 3-4 pages and provides evidence that the problem is current, relevant, and significant to the discipline. The summary reiterates the gap in the literature and how your project contributes to social or organizational change in nursing and nursing education. The significance of the problem is stated and correlated to potential contributions of the study that advance knowledge in the discipline. Provides a strong “take home” message that captures the key essence of your research. The summary concludes with recommendations for further research that are grounded in the strengths and limitations of the current research as well as the literature reviewed.

Approaches Expectations

The significance and summary section includes an overall summary of the project’s main points the significance of the project to the nursing education profession, however may be limited in detail in some areas. The summation is less than 3 pages and provides some evidence that the problem is current, relevant but the significance to the discipline is questionable. There is not a strong strong “take home” message that captures the key essence of your research. There are limited recommendations for further research that are somewhat grounded in the strengths and limitations of the current research as well as the literature reviewed.

18.75 to >14.75 pts

Falls Below Expectations

The significance and summary section includes an overall summary of the project’s main points but is missing key required components, enough that the meaning of this final section is impeded and does not summarize the research effectively.
