NUR 590 Evidence Based Project Proposal Evaluation Plan

In 750-1,000 words, develop an evaluation plan to be included in your final evidence-based practice project proposal. You will use the evaluation plan in the Topic 8 assignment, during which you will synthesize the various aspects of your project into a final paper detailing your evidence-based practice project proposal.

Provide the following criteria in the evaluation, making sure it is comprehensive and concise:

Review the various data collection tools associated with your selected research design and select one data collection tool that would be effective for your research design. Explain how this tool is valid, reliable, and applicable.

Select a statistical test for your project and explain why it is best suited for the tool you choose.

Describe what methods you will apply to your data collection tool and how the outcomes will be measured and evaluated based on the tool you selected.

Propose strategies that will be taken if outcomes do not provide positive or expected results.

Describe the plans to maintain, extend, revise, and discontinue a proposed solution after implementation.

You are required to cite a minimum of five peer-reviewed sources to complete this assignment. Sources must be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria and nursing content.

 Sample (study group) or data source with comparison group
 Methods for data collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation.

Objective: Part A: To develop a plan for training or educating your staff/patients to successfully
implement your intervention.
Part B: To develop a plan for putting your intervention into place.
Part A: Develop a Plan for Staff and/or Patient Training
 Identify your Instructors, trainee audience(s) and their specific training requirements.
Determine who needs to be trained on what knowledge/skills and by when in order to achieve
your aims.
Part B: Develop an Implementation Plan for the Intervention
 Ensure you have collected all baseline data before implementing the intervention.
 Identify the person(s) responsible for implementation.
 Determine how you will implement your intervention in order to achieve your aims.
 Identify who will use what team strategies and tools, when and where.
 Create an implementation timeline.

Consider the “Four Topics Approach” (or Four Box method) to ethical decision making on page 61, Table 2.1 in Butts (below).  Apply this model to a challenging situation in your nursing career that required you to consider the ethical dimensions of the patient case and the role you played in providing care. Specifically apply and address the questions within each topic area as they pertain to your situation.

In your conclusion, discuss the impact of the Four Topics process. Did applying these principles shape your decision making in any way?  Does this seem like a valid process for you to apply in your practice?

· What are the goals of treatment?

· In sum, how can this patient be benefited by medical and nursing care, and how can harm be avoided?


Patient Preferences: The Principle of Respect for Autonomy

· On what grounds can anyone judge that some quality of life would be undesirable for a patient who cannot make or express such a judgment?

· Are there biases that might prejudice the provider’s evaluation of the patient’s quality of life?

· What ethical issues arise concerning improving or enhancing a patient’s quality of life?

· Do quality-of-life assessments raise any questions regarding changes in treatment plans, such as forgoing life-sustaining treatment?

· What are plans and rationale to forgo life-sustaining treatment?

· What is the legal and ethical status of suicide?


Contextual Features: The Principles of Justice and Fairness

· Are there professional, interprofessional, or business interests that might create conflicts of interest in the clinical treatment of patients?
