Literature Review Paper

6-7 page paper

Purpose:  This paper gives you the opportunity to examine an area of our everyday communication in a more in-depth manner by finding, reading, and analyzing original, scholarly sources on a topic of interest to you.  My hope is also that you learn how to write a good literature review that will help you in your future writing assignments.

What is a literature review?  A literature review is an examination of the published work by researchers and scholars on a given topic.  A literature review should synthesize the information from the existing literature and organize it in a meaningful way.  It is not a separate summary of each source or article.  Additionally, a literature review should offer a critique of the existing literature, such as by discussing the strengths and weaknesses as well as areas that are in need of further investigation.

Description:  This assignment lets you examine an area that we have read about and/or talked about in class (or will cover in the future) in more detail.  You will find and read at least three original, scholarly research articles.  By scholarly, I mean that the articles should come from published peer-reviewed journals, NOT magazines, newspapers, conference papers, dissertations/theses, or books.  Some good journals to look at are Communication Monographs, Journal of Communication, Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, and Personal Relationships, to name a few. Your last two sources may be from non journal sources. In total yor paper should have at least 5 sources.  If you have any questions about whether your sources are appropriate, please ask me.

In your paper, you should synthesize the studies and articles that you have examined, focusing on the major findings.  You must carefully read the entirety of each article, but you should focus especially on the Discussion section.  Please note my use of the word synthesize.  I do not want a separate summary of each article; rather, I want you to present an overall picture of what you have learned from studying a small body of literature on this particular aspect of our everyday communication.  Your paper should be organized into three thematic subsections, each with a clear and separate heading.  Some questions that may be useful to think about are:  What questions is the research trying to answer?  What connections or similarities do you see between these studies?  What contexts were examined?  Are the findings consistent with each other?  How are the studies different?

An important part of every literature review is a critique of the literature.  You should consider what the studies that you reviewed did well and what was limiting about the studies you reviewed. It is often helpful to carefully review the Method section when critiquing the literature.  You can also think about gaps in the research overall when constructing your critique.  Your critique of the literature will be a separate, labeled section and will lead up to at least one Research Question or Hypothesis.

In other words, you should end with a question or educated guess about your topic that was not answered in the literature you reviewed, but that you think

M4 Assignment 2: Case Analysis—Adapting to Market Conditions

Assignment 2: Case Analysis—Adapting to Market Conditions

A business must be able to adapt to the market conditions in the host country. Using the Argosy University online library resources, find an example of a U.S. firm attempting to gain access to a foreign market dominated by the host country’s corporations, retailers, and distributors.

Analyze the case. In your case analysis, address the following:

  1. Summarize the basic situation in the case including a discussion of the business strategy of the U.S. firm you identified.
  2. Discuss the host country’s market along with the retail market, including its structural features. In your opinion, what are the primary differences compared to the U.S. markets where the U.S. firm normally does business?
  3. Discuss the changes that occurred in the host country’s marketplace over the last 20-30 years.
  4. Explain the efforts by the U.S. firm you identified to enter the host country’s marketplace.
  5. From your assessment, what seem to be the two most important factors that make entry into the host country’s marketplace challenging and potentially risky for a U.S. firm?

Submit your work in a 5-page Word document. Apply current APA standards for writing style to your work. All written assignments and responses should follow APA rules for attributing sources.

Hospital Data Security Select a hospital or healthcare organization

Hospital Data Security
Select a hospital or healthcare organization to research. You may choose an organization you are familiar with or can readily obtain information about. To maintain confidentiality, you do not need to mention the name of the organization. You may also choose a hypothetical/fictitious healthcare organization.

Daily life requires us to have access to a lot of information, and information systems help us access that information. Desktop computers, laptops, and mobile devices keep us connected to the information we need through processes that work via hardware and software components. Information systems infrastructure makes this possible. However, our easy access to communication and information also creates security and privacy risks. Laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines exist to protect information and information owners. Cybersecurity ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the information. Identity management is a fundamental practice. Part of identity management is the governance of access, authorization, and authentication of users to information systems, Identity management is one part of a layered security defense strategy within the information systems infrastructure. Your work in this project will enable you to produce a technical report and nontechnical presentation that addresses these requirements.

There are six steps that will help you create your final deliverables. The deliverables for this project are as follows:

Nontechnical presentation: This is an 8-10 slide PowerPoint presentation for business executives and board members.
Technical report: Your report should be a 6-7 page double-spaced Word document with citations in APA format. The page count does not include figures, diagrams, tables or citations.
Executive summary: This should be a 2-3 page double-spaced Word document.
In a Word document, share your lab experience and provide screen prints to demonstrate that you performed the lab.
The technical report and the nontechnical presentation will identify compromises and vulnerabilities in the information systems infrastructure of the healthcare organization, and identify risks to the organization’s data. You will propose a way to prioritize these risks and include possible remediation actions.

The technical report: Provide recommendations for access control and authentication mechanisms to increase the security within the identity management system. After you have defined the roles within the organization, recommend the accesses, restrictions, and conditions for each role. Present these in a tabular format, as part of your list of recommendations.

Provide a comparison of risk scenarios to include the following:

What will happen if the CIO and the leadership do nothing, and decide to accept the risks?
Are there possible ways the CIO can transfer the risks?
Are there possible ways to mitigate the risks?
Are there possible ways to eliminate the risks?
What are the projected costs to address these risks?
Provide an overall recommendation, with technical details to the director of IT.

The executive summary: In addition to your technical report, also create a nontechnical report as an executive summary.

The deliverables for this project are as follows:

Nontechnical presentation: This is a 8-10 slide PowerPoint presentation for business executives and board members.
Submit your deliverables to the assignment folder.

Before you submit your assignment, review the competencies below, which your instructor will use to evaluate your work. A good practice would be to use each competency as a self-check to confirm you have incorporated all of them in your work.

1.1: Organize document or presentation in a manner that promotes understanding and meets the requirements of the assignment.
2.3: Evaluate the information in logical manner to determine value and relevance.
6.2: Create a roadmap for organizations to use in development of an IMA program (to address gaps in their current offerings
