Case study 3

Visit Healthy People 2030 here and review the Health Communication objective: Increase the number of state health departments that use social marketing in health promotion programs — HC/HIT‑D01. This is a developmental objective, meaning there is no baseline data yet, however, this will become a core objective for Healthy People 2030. What I want you to do is choose a state health department to review and see if they are utilizing any social marketing campaigns. One way to find a state health department is to search “[insert state] health department website”. Then, search their website for any social media accounts and review the content used for their health communication. If you need more information on what social marketing it, download this CDC pdf here. Next, select your local community health department (or city health department) and search their webpage. Are they employing any social marketing strategies? Between the state and local health departments, which is utilizing social marketing more? Provide an example of one of the social marketing strategies used by each health department and discuss why it is or is not effective in communicating the health message? Then discuss why social marketing is important for health communication.

Your paper should be 2-3 pages, double-spaced, and follow APA 7th edition formatting. The reference pages is not included in the page limit

Module 05 Discussion – Remaining Calm

Initial Post

There are times when a nurse must provide care for a client who is agitated and verbally or physically aggressive. The client may be psychotic, but the nurse must, in each case, remain in control of his/her own feelings, and intervene in the most appropriate manner.

After watching a segment regarding a violent client at Bellevue Hospital, answer the questions below. It’s not necessary to critique the staff in the video, just think of how you might respond.

Violent Client at Bellevue Hosptial Video

  • Describe a time when a client was rude or verbally abusive to you. How did you react?
  • What skills were necessary to maintain a professional, caring, therapeutic relationship?
  • How did you best communicate with this client?
  • What did you learn from this experience?

Topic 1 Week 5

Healthy People 2020 and Nursing

Topic 1: Faith-Based Nursing

Review Healthy People 2020. Identify objectives that are amenable to parish nurse intervention.

  • Describe how faith communities can contribute to the accomplishment of these national health objectives and accomplish the goal of improving the health of the public.
  • How can nurses working in the community form partnerships with parish nurses and faith communities?
  • How would such partnerships be beneficial?

Organization

Create an 8- to 9-slide PowerPoint presentation in which you do the following:

  • Briefly describe your healthcare organization, including its culture and readiness for change. (You may opt to keep various elements of this anonymous, such as your company name.)
  • Describe the current problem or opportunity for change. Include in this description the circumstances surrounding the need for change, the scope of the issue, the stakeholders involved, and the risks associated with change implementation in general.
  • Propose an evidence-based idea for a change in practice using an EBP approach to decision making. Note that you may find further research needs to be conducted if sufficient evidence is not discovered.
  • Describe your plan for knowledge transfer of this change, including knowledge creation, dissemination, and organizational adoption and implementation.
  • Describe the measurable outcomes you hope to achieve with the implementation of this evidence-based change.
  • Be sure to provide APA citations of the supporting evidence-based peer reviewed articles you selected to support your thinking.

View the scenario called “Critical Decision Making for Providers” found in the Allied Health Community media.

In a 1,000-1,250-word paper, examine the scenario involving Mike, the lab technician, and discuss the following:

  1. Discuss the consequences of a failure to report.
  2. Explain the impact his decision had on patient safety and organizational performance (risk for litigation, organization’s quality metrics, workload of other hospital departments, etc.).
  3. As Mike’s manager, describe how you would address the issue with him and steps you would take to ensure other staff members do not repeat the same kind of mistake.
  4. Reflect on the scenario and describe what underlying aspects or issues may be contributing to workplace dilemmas such as this.
  5. Consider the manner in which most health care organizations function (structure, people, technology, environment). As a leader, discuss what principles of organizational behavior and development can be applied to effectively contribute to the success of a health care organization. How could these principles be applied to this scenario?

Caps Assignment W1

Topic Proposal and Problem Statement Paper

The purpose of this assignment is to develop a strong, working foundation for your final paper. You will identify a topic area and develop a problem- or issue-related topic within that area of interest. As you develop this specific topic, keep in mind that your eventual goal is to formulate and present a solution to the healthcare issue or problem you identify.

Your topic proposal should include the following items and address the following:

Describe the topic you wish to pursue.

  • It may be somewhat broad at this point and it may imply a problem. Use the Additional Resources in your course materials to help you search for ideas.

Identify your purpose: Why are you interested in this topic? (Narrow your topic.)

  • Specifically explain what it is that fascinates you or draws you to this topic.
  • Clearly describe the topic’s relevance in the field today.
  • Identify a purpose for a paper on this topic:
    • What might you accomplish in exploring this problem?
    • What is your intended goal?
      • To evoke change
      • To make new connections (new cause and effect)
      • To introduce a new theory, solution, or idea
    • Is this goal realistic?

Identify a problem within the topic and draft a problem statement. (It will likely evolve and be revised as you progress through your research.)

  • Identify a problem related to your topic and state it.
  • The problem statement should be specific and indicate the focus of your final paper.
    • Not too narrow, not too broad
    • Intellectually challenging (a simple solution is not apparent)
  • Who would benefit from a solution to this problem (who is the target population)?

Your paper should be 1–2 pages. Adhere to APA Style throughout.

Pediatric Bipolar Depression

Discussion: Pediatric Bipolar Depression Disorder Debate

Some debate in the literature exists specific to whether or not bipolar disorder can be diagnosed in childhood. While some have anecdotally argued that it is not possible for children to develop bipolar disorder (as normal features of childhood confound the diagnosis), other sources argue that pediatric bipolar disorder is a fact.

In this Discussion, you engage in a debate as to whether pediatric bipolar disorder is possible to diagnose.

Learning Objectives

Students will:

  • Evaluate      diagnosis of pediatric bipolar depression disorder
  • Analyze      consequences to diagnosing/failing to diagnose pediatric bipolar      depression disorder

To Prepare for the Discussion:

  • The instructor      will assign you a position for or against the issue of diagnosing      pediatric bipolar depression disorder.( Against)
  • Review the      Learning Resources concerning the controversy over the diagnosis of      pediatric bipolar depression disorder.

Post:

  • Write  “against” in the subject line of      your Discussion post.
  • Based on the      position you were assigned, justify whether or not pediatric bipolar      depression disorder should be diagnosed.

Support your position with evidence and examples.

In your Case Study Analysis related to the scenario provided, explain the following:

  • The factors that affect      fertility (STDs).
  • Why inflammatory markers      rise in STD/PID.
  • Why prostatitis and      infection happens. Also explain the causes of systemic reaction.
  • Why a patient would need a      splenectomy after a diagnosis of ITP.
  • Anemia and the different      kinds of anemia (i.e., micro and macrocytic).
